Search function

asked 2014-03-20 06:48:43 -0600

I have problems using the search feature. The function worked fine until recently, but without changing any settings it is now not possible so search for a gene name even though a track containing the gene name is visible and searchable? Do you know what the problem might be? /TK

GenomeBrowse 2.0 has been released! You can download the most recent installer from our website.

Included in the new version is the ability to search features from cloud sources, for example if a gene track and a dbSNP track are being streamed you can search for a specific gene name from the gene track or a paricular RSID from the dbSNP track.

You can find full details in our new GenomeBrowse manual.

Hi Tom,

I am sorry you are having issues with GenomeBrowse.

The search feature for tracks is currently only available for Local sources, if you have a gene track streaming from the cloud all you will see is Unknown in the search box as you type. So any tracks you would like to search need to first be downloaded locally to your system and then set to searchable for that feature to work correctly.

We are in the process of deploying a new annotations server that will allow for searching the cloud based sources as easily as the local sources. The new server will be available with GenomeBrowse 2.0 which is scheduled for release at the beginning of April.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Thanks, Jami...
